Dick McCabe, son of James and Jessie Pearl (Crapo) McCabe, was born November 2, 1919 in Dove Creek, Colorado. He married Wilma Eula Wight September 28, 1942. He registered for the draft July 1, 1941 and was inducted into the Army September 16, 1942 at Pueblo, Colorado. He joined Company B, 137th Infantry Regiment July 20, 1944 as a Rifleman from the 86th Replacement Battalion when the unit was in the vicinity of St Lo, France. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge August 1 and promoted to Sergeant, Squad Leader October 11, 1944. Sgt Dick McCabe was killed in action November 8, 1944 in the vicinity of Jallaucourt, France. He is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint Avold, France.
