137th Infantry Regiment - Company I

Perry Lee McDonald, Jr, son of Perry Lee, Sr and Charlotte Marion (Hubbard) McDonald, was born May 15, 1921 at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He married Cecil Emma Freeman in July 1943 and the couple had a daughter, Phyllis Kathleen. He registered for the draft February 15, 1942 while living in Syracuse, New York and working for the Onondaga Pottery Company. He was inducted into the Army May 5, 1942 at Syracuse, New York and joined Company I, 137th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 38th Replacement Battalion September 16, 1944. Pvt Perry L McDonald, Jr was killed in action by shrapnel from a shell blast September 23, 1944 in the vicinity of Champenoux, France. He is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery Syracuse, New York.
