Frederick Oscar Mueller, son of Max Albert and Emma (Schlegel) Mueller, was born September 2, 1917 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He married Shirley Jean Venema April 15, 1943 and the couple had a son, Robert F, born December 16, 1944, after the death of his father earlier that year. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940, was inducted into the Army March 21, 1942 at Fort George Meade, Maryland and was commissioned 1st Lieutenant December 30, 1943. He departed for the ETO in May 1944 and joined Company D, 137th Infantry Regiment as an Infantry Unit Commander on July 24, 1944 when the unit was in the vicinity of Villiers-Fossard, France. 1st Lt Frederick O Mueller was killed in action August 1, 1944 south of St Lo, France. He is buried at Montoursville Cemetery, Montoursville, Pennsylvania.
