J W Lewis Mullins, son of Knova Chapman and Nellie Mae (Witcher) Mullins, was born July 26, 1918 in Saline County, Missouri. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940. At the time he was a farmer living in Windsor, Missouri. He was inducted into the Army February 16, 1942, served as a Squad Leader in Company D, 137th Infantry Regiment, and landed at Omaha Beach Normandy France July 7, 1944. Sgt J W Lewis Mullins was killed in action July 18, 1944 in the vicinity of St Lo, France and was posthumously awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge August 2, 1944. He is buried at Crown Hill Cemetery, Sedalia, Missouri.
