137th Infantry Regiment - Company E

Claud W Osborn, son of Fred Louis and Anna Catherine (Stephenson) Osborn, was born in Kansas August 12, 1915. He was a member of the Kansas National Guard, mobilized to Federal Service December 23, 1940 at Holton, Kansas. He was a Squad Leader in Company E, 137th Infantry Regiment and landed at Omaha Beach in Normandy, France July 8, 1944. He was wounded in action July 13, 1944 north of St Lo, France and returned to duty August 13, 1944. S/Sgt Claud W Osborn was seriously wounded September 20, 1944 east of Nancy, France and transferred to the 60th Field Hospital where he died of his wounds the following day, September 21, 1944. He is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint Avold, France and memorialized at Olive Hill Cemetery, Soldier, Kansas.
