Walter Ernest Parker, son of Charles James and Myrtle (Cotton) Parker was born April 24, 1914 In Greenville, Texas. The family moved to Dallas sometime during the 1930s. He married Norma Irene Teer January 15, 1935 and the couple had a son, Walter E Parker, Jr. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940. At the time he was working at the Permanent Plating Company in Dallas. He joined Company M, 137th Infantry Regiment from the 71st Replacement Battalion October 7, 1944 and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge December 1, 1944. He was seriously wounded in action February 28, 1945 in the vicinity of Leuth, Germany southeast of Venlo, Holland. He was treated at the 110th Medical Battalion Clearing Station then transferred to the 20th Field Hospital. 1st Lt Walter E Parker died of his wounds March 1, 1945. He is buried at Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands.
