Jesse McKinley Patton, son of Proctor McKinley and Lizzie Lou (Hurt) Patton, was born August 10, 1923 in Monticello, Kentucky. He married Anna Woody April 28, 1944. He registered for the draft June 30, 1942 and was inducted into the Army November 5, 1943 at Louisville, Kentucky. He joined Company E, 137th Infantry Regiment from the 86th Replacement Battalion July 20, 1944, served as a Rifleman, and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge August 1, 1944. Pfc Jesse M Patton was killed in action September 16, 1944 in Laneuveville-devant-Nancy, France and is memorialized at the Chateau de l’abbe de Bouzey in that town. He is buried at Elk Spring Cemetery, Monticello, Kentucky.
