Merle Francis Pawlowsky, son of Clifford and Iva (Burkhardt) Pawlowsky, was born May 30, 1924 in Hamilton, Ohio. He registered for the draft June 30, 1942 when he was an 18 year old student. He was inducted into the Army July 3, 1943 at Cincinnati, Ohio and took his basic training at Fort McClellan, Alabama. He joined Company G, 137th Infantry Regiment from the 86th Replacement Battalion July 30, 1944 and served as a Scout. Pvt Merle F Pawlowsky was killed in action August 4, 1944, about 5 - 10 miles northwest of Vire, France. He is buried at Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, Ohio.
