Sol John Realy, son of John Jule and Blanche Estelle
(O'Dell) Realy, was born December 26, 1924 in Ferndale, Michigan. He registered
for the draft December 28, 1942, entered service October 17, 1943 at Camp Hood,
Texas and was originally assigned to a Tank Destroyer unit before being
transferred to the 137th Infantry Regiment at Camp Butner, North Carolina. He
departed for the ETO in May 1944 and was billeted in Cornwall England before
landing at Omaha Beach, Normandy France on July 7, 1944. Pvt Sol J Realy was
killed in action July 11, 1944 in the vicinity of La Meauffe, France during the
battle for St Lo. He us buried at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery, Troy
Michigan.
