John Wesley Robinson, son of Francis Lilburn and Mattie Jane (Rambo) Robinson, was born March 15, 1912 in Glade Spring, Virginia. He married Joan Madeline Bennett July 22, 1943. He registered for the draft October 17, 1940, was inducted into the Army May 4, 1942 at Abington, Virginia, and joined Company G, 137th Infantry Regiment from the 71st Replacement Battalion as a Rifleman on October 15, 1944. He was originally reported missing and was later confirmed killed in action November 10, 1944 by enemy artillery shell shrapnel in the vicinity of Destry, France. Pvt John W Robinson is buried at Old Glade Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Glade Spring, Virginia.
