137th Infantry Regiment - Company I

William Eugene Rosenberry, son of Joseph Edward and Ruth May (Asmussen) Rosenberry, was born June 9, 1919 in Douglass, Kansas. He was married to Ellen Ester Rosenberry. He registered for the draft October 19, 1940. He served in Company I, 137th Infantry Regiment, landed on Omaha Beach in Normandy, France July 7, and was wounded in action July 13, 1944 during the Battle for St Lo, France. He was awarded a Combat Infantryman Badge August 2, 1944 and returned to duty November 12, 1944 after recuperating from his wounds. Pfc William E Rosenberry was again wounded November 18 in the vicinity of Bistroff, France and died of his wounds December 13, 1944. He is buried at Douglass Cemetery, Douglass, Kansas.
