Roger Lee Rutter, son of Donald Alfred and Martha (Hall) Rutter, was born May 25, 1914 in Lansing, Michigan. He married Ann Imogene Watts October 30, 1937 and the couple had 2 daughters, Judy and Mary Margaret. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940. At the time he was living in Bath, Michigan and working at the Motor Wheel Corporation in Lansing. He entered the service in January 1944 and joined Company G, 137th Infantry Regiment from the 53rd Replacement Battalion on September 8, 1944 serving as a Light Machine Gunner. Pvt Roger L Rutter was killed in action by an artillery shell blast September 18, 1944 in the vicinity of Nancy, France. He is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint Avold, France.
