Delfino Lara Sanchez, son of Francisco and Maria Felipa (Lara) Sanchez, was born December 24, 1917 in Gomez Palacio, Mexico. He married Catalina Orosco in Texas during 1941 and the couple had a son, Jesus Sanchez, born July 20 1942. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940 and was inducted into the Army in March 1941 at Las Cruces, New Mexico. He joined Company L, 137th Infantry Regiment on December 25, 1944 from the 17th Replacement Battalion and was awarded a Combat Infantryman Badge January 1, 1945. Pfc Delfino L Sanchez was originally reported missing but it was later determined that he had been killed in action by artillery shell fragments on January 9, 1945 in the vicinity of Villers La Bonne Eau, Luxembourg. He is buried at Luxembourg American Cemetery, Hamm, Luxembourg.
