Ophir King Shaver, son of Albert and Gertrude (King) Shaver, was born July 22, 1907 in Roseville, Ohio. He married Mary Nancy Sylvester November 18, 1931 and the couple had one child, Dean Walter Shaver who died in infancy. He was inducted into the Army October 21, 1943 at Cleveland, Ohio and received his basic training at Camp Blanding, Florida. He joined Company C, 137th Infantry Regiment on July 20, 1944 and served as a Rifleman. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge August 1st and was promoted to Private First Class August 11, 1944. Pfc Ophir K Shaver was killed in action August 13, 1944 in the vicinity of Mortain, France. he is buried at Granger Fairview Cemetery, Granger, Ohio.
