Sidney Sidran, son of Samuel Sidney and Caroline "Carrie" Louise (Nowill) Sidran, was born May 8, 1915 in Brooklyn, New York. His father passed away when he was 4 years old. When he was 11 years old his mother married John Halliday. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940. At the time he was a student at Ohio Northern University. He was inducted into the Army February 9, 1942 at Camp Upton, Yaphank, New York. His mother passed away the following day. Pfc Sidney Sidran was a Rifleman in Company I, 137th Infantry Regiment. He was killed in action July 13, 1944 by artillery shell fragments during the battle for St Lo, France and was posthumously awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge August 2, 1944. He is buried at Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
