137th Infantry Regiment - Company K

Clarence R Sprague, son of Dorsey Cyrus and Daisy (Bucken) Sprague, was born in New York August 22, 1922. Inducted into the Army January 16, 1941, he joined Company K, 137th Infantry Regiment from the 83rd Replacement Battalion on November 17, 1944 and served as a Platoon Leader. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge December 1, 1944. 1st Lt Clarence R Sprague was originally reported missing and was later confirmed killed in action December 17, 1944 near the Breiterwald forest in the vicinity of Frauenberg, Germany. He is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint-Avold, France.
