Edgar Allen Stoneburner, son of Bliss Leroy and Nora Madge (Allen) Stoneburner, was born May 22, 1920 in York Township, Ohio. He married Dorothy Bell in 1939. He registered for the draft July 1, 1941 and was inducted into the Army June 23, 1944 at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. He joined Company E, 137th Infantry Regiment from the 14th Replacement Battalion on December 23, 1944, served as a Rifleman, and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge January 1, 1945. Pvt Edgar A Stoneburner was originally reported missing and was later confirmed killed in action January 11, 1945 in the vicinity of Villers-la-Bonne-Eau, Belgium. He is buried at Crooksville Cemetery, Crooksville, Ohio.
