Guy Robert Strickland, son of John Midus and Mary Magdeline (Eubanks) Strickland, was born August 19, 1919 in Wakulla County, Florida. He was inducted into the Army February 12, 1942 at Camp Blanding, Florida and married Annie Rosa Greene July 15, 1942. Pvt Guy R Strickland was a member of Company L, 137th Infantry Regiment. He was wounded in action by machine gun fire July 12, 1944 during the battle for St Lo, France and died of his wounds the same day. He is buried at New Light Church Cemetery, Crawfordville, Florida.
