137th Infantry Regiment - Company C

Pvt Will Andrew Walker was inducted into the Army June 2, 1944. He joined Company C, 137th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 14th Replacement Battalion on December 23, 1944. Prior to his joining, the 35th Infantry Division had been in continuous combat since first landing on Omaha Beach July 5-6, 1944. They had just fought their way into Germany when they were relieved from combat and sent to Metz, France for some well-earned R&R and reorganization. They spent Christmas Eve at Metz and the next day they got orders to move North to fight in the Battle of the Bulge.

Pvt Walker was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge on January 1, 1945. He was reported injured in action and lost to the 35th Evacuation Hospital January 9, 1945. Army hospital records show he was treated for severe trench foot and medically discharged in August 1945.
