Joshua J Wilson, son of Marcus and Adeline (Tonihka) Wilson, was born December 12, 1913 in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. He moved to Wichita sometime later and worked at the Wichita Beacon newspaper. He married Pauline Ruth Hopkins in 1941 and the couple had a son, Marcus Wilson. He was a member of the Kansas National Guard and was mobilized for federal service with Company I, 137th Infantry Regiment, serving as a Platoon Sergeant. Technical Sergeant Joshua J Wilson was killed in action July 14, 1944 during the battle for St Lo, France. He is buried at Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, Normandy, France.
