James Gilbert Woodworth, son of James and Martha (Ward) Woodworth, was born November 16, 1920 in North Hoosick, New York. He registered for the draft February 15, 1942 and was inducted into the Army October 12, 1943 at Albany, New York. He joined Company B, 137th Infantry Regiment from the 86th Replacement Battalion on July 19, 1944 and served as a Rifleman. He was originally reported missing August 12, 1944 in the vicinity of Mortain, France. It was later confirmed that he had been killed in action that same date. Pvt James G Woodworth is buried at Maple Grove New Cemetery, Hoosick Falls, New York.
