137th Infantry Regiment - Company C

Kenneth Cecil Wythe, son of Robert Saul and Dessie Early (Coates) Wythe, was born October 3, 1925 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was inducted into the Army December 1, 1943 and joined Company C, 137th Infantry Regiment from the 86th Replacement Battalion July 17, 1944. He was wounded in action south of St. Lo, France on August 1 and awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge August 2, 1944. After recuperating from his wounds, he returned to duty with the Regiment on October 6, 1944. Pvt Kenneth C Wythe was killed in action November 24, 1944 in the vicinity of St. Jean Rohrbach, France. He is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint-Avold, France.
