Jack Leroy Yost, son of Roy and Alice (Ford) Yost, was born September 30, in, 1918 in Ottawa, Kansas. He was married to Florence Walle and the couple had one child, a son, Darrel Lee Yost. 1st Lt Jack L Yost served in Company H, 137th Infantry Regiment. He was killed in action July 17, 1944 during the battle for St Lo, France. He is memorialized at Bennington Cemetery in Bennington, Kansas and buried at Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
