Second Lieutenant Martin H. Huschka O2006426, Field Artillery, United States Army, for heroic service in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States in the vicinity of * * * , Germany on 23 April 1945.  During an enemy counter-attack, Lt. Huschka, an artillery forward observer, directed highly effective artillery fire on enemy weapons and infantry, although he was subjected to enemy small arms, 20mm antiaircraft and artillery fire.  Lt. Huschka's alertness, quick decisions and disregard for personal safety were instrumental in disrupting the enemy counter-attack and reflect high credit upon his character as an officer.  Entered military service from Kansas.
