Richard Leon Ogle, son of Everett and Lowery Ethel "Lula" (Camp) Ogle, was born January 7, 1920 in Fortville, Indiana. He registered for the draft July 1, 1941. At the time he was working at Delco-Remy in Anderson, Indiana. He was inducted into the Army December 4, 1942 at Indianapolis, Indiana, served in Battery C, 161st Field Artillery Battalion, and was promoted to Private First Class February 2, 1945. Pfc Richard L Ogle was seriously wounded by shrapnel March 8, 1945 in the vicinity of Kamp-Lintfort, Germany when heavy artillery landed in the battalion area. He developed gangrene and died of his wounds March 17, 1945. He is buried at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Green Township, Indiana.
