Battery B - 219th Field Artillery Battalion

Arnold Lewis Herman, son of Frederick and Oral (Dick) Herman, was born December 16, 1922 in Buchanan, Michigan. He registered for the draft June 28, 1942. At the time he was working at Clark Equipment Company in Buchanan. He was inducted into the Army August 27, 1942 at Kalamazoo, Michigan and trained at Camp Roberts, California and Camp Rucker, Alabama before leaving for the ETO in February 1944. Sgt Arnold L Herman, a member of Battery B, 219th Field Artillery Battalion, was wounded by a shell blast August 18, 1944 in the vicinity of Orleans, France and died of his wounds that same day. He is buried at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan, Michigan.
