Johnnie Edward Jeffcoat, son of Ligon Benjamin and Curtis (Furtick) Jeffcoat, was born May 7, 1925 in Swansea, South Carolina. He enlisted in the Army November 26, 1940 at Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina. He was a member of Battery A, 219th Field Artillery Battalion and was promoted to Private First Class January 1, 1945. Pfc Johnnie E Jeffcoat was killed in action February 24, 1944 in the vicinity of Randerath, Germany. He is buried at Melrose Memorial Garden, Swansea, South Carolina.
