Pat Holt Lassiter, Jr, son of Pat Holt Sr and Laura Rowena (Fryar) Lassiter, was born March 3, 1921 in Belleville, Arkansas. He married Edna McDonald July 14, 1943 and the couple had a son, Donald Ray Lassiter, born in 1944. He registered for the draft February 16, 1942, was inducted into the Army August 20, 1942 at Little Rock, Arkansas and served in Headquarters Battery, 219th Field Artillery Battalion. He received his basic training at Camp Roberts, California and was stationed at San Luis Obispo, California, Camp Rucker, Alabama, and Camp Butner, North Carolina before departing for the ETO. He landed at Omaha Beach, Normandy France July 7, 1944. Cpl Pat H Lassiter, Jr was killed in action by artillery shell fragments July 14, 1944 in the vicinity of St Lo, France. He is buried at Russell Cemetery, Belleville, Arkansas.
