Vaughn Parker, son of Hughy Tilman and Martha Winona (Sharpton) Parker, was born January 5, 1922 in Missouri and moved to Kansas during his childhood. He married Ruth Marie Bohrman in 1942 and the couple had a daughter, Barbara. He was a member of the National Guard, ordered into Federal Service December 23, 1940. A member of Battery A, 219th Field Artillery Battalion, he landed on Omaha Beach in Normandy July 7, 1944 and was promoted to Sergeant August 5th. He was wounded in action September 17, 1944 in the vicinity of Nancy, France and returned to duty January 7, 1945. Sgt Vaughn Parker was killed in action February 24, 1945 in the vicinity of Horst, Germany. He is buried at Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands.
