Thomas A Hager, son of Johann Heinrich and Cecelia (Leonard) Hager, was born October 7, 1918 in Kellogg, Minnesota. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940 and entered the Army in 1941. He served in the 131st Infantry Regiment and was awarded the American Campaign Service Ribbon for guarding the Sioux Locks at Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan while with the 131st Infantry. He transferred to Company I, 320th Infantry Regiment in January 1943 and landed at Omaha Beach, Normandy France July 5, 1944. He was promoted to Sergeant, Communications Chief on July 19 and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge August 12, 1944. Sgt Thomas A Hager was killed in action by shell blast fragments September 14, 1944 near Barbonville, southeast of Nancy, France. He is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint Avold, France.
