Company G -  320th Infantry Regiment

David Napoleon Jerles, son of Pona and Lina (Puitt) Jerles, was born June 23, 1923 at Bradley, Tennessee. He registered for the draft June 30, 1942 and enlisted in the Army January 11, 1943 at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. He served in Company G, 320th Infantry Regiment, was promoted to Private First Class July 1, 1944 while the unit was at Exeter, England, and landed at Omaha Beach, Normandy France July 6, 1944. Pfc David N Jerles was wounded in action July 13 in the vicinity of St Lo, France and died of his wounds at a hospital in England on July 21, 1944. He is buried at Chattanooga National Cemetery, Chattanooga, Tennessee.
