Robert Anthony Jordan, son of Anthony J and Mina
Evelyn (Sill) Jordan, was born May 26, 1923 in South Bend, Indiana. He was
inducted into the Army June 20, 1942 at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana and
served in Company D, 320th Infantry Regiment. He departed for the ETO in May
1944 and was billeted at Topsham Barracks, near Exeter, England until crossing
the English Channel and landing at Omaha Beach in Normandy France on July 6,
1944. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge August 20, 1944. Pfc Robert A
Jordan was wounded by shell fragments September 24, 1944 in the vicinity of
Armaucourt north of Nancy, France. He died of his wounds that same day. He is
buried at Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Mishawaka, Indiana.
