Wayne Everett Kenneson, son of Guy Albert and Lois Mary (Foster) Kenneson, was born January 4, 1925 in Rumney, New Hampshire. He registered for the draft January 4, 1943 when he was an 18 year old student and was inducted into the Army July 7, 1943 at Manchester, New Hampshire. He served in the Medical Detachment, 320th Infantry Regiment and landed at Omaha Beach, Normandy France July 6, 1944. He was wounded in action July 18, 1944 by a mine explosion in the vicinity of St Lo, France and returned to duty August 27, 1944. He was promoted to Private First Class September 12, 1944, to Technician 5th Grade October 3, 1944 and again promoted to Technician 4th Grade November 20, 1944. T/4 Wayne E Kenneson was killed in action December 11, 1944 in the vicinity of Sarreguemines, France. He is buried at Highland Cemetery, Rumney, New Hampshire.

Technician Fifth Grade Wayne E Kenneson, 31373792 (then private), Medical Department, United States Army, for heroic service in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States, in the vicinity of * * * , Normandy, France, on 17 July 1944. Technician Kenneson, an aid man, was summoned to administer first aid to a soldier who had been wounded by a booby trap. Upon reaching the area, Technician Kenneson was himself wounded by an exploding mine, which also wounded three other soldiers standing nearby. Disregarding his wounds, he went to the assistance of the other three wounded men, administering first aid, and remained with them until they were evacuated by litter-bearers. Technician Kenneson's zealous devotion to duty, and heroic actions in placing the welfare of wounded comrades above any consideration for his personal condition, reflect credit upon the Medical Department of the Army. Technician Fourth Grade Wayne E Kenneson, 31373792, Medical Department, United States Army, for gallantry in action in Lorraine, France on 18 November and 11 December 1944. On 18 November, Sergeant Kenneson advanced into an open field in the face of intense enemy artillery and mortar fire to administer first aid to a wounded officer. Again on 11 December, Sergeant Kenneson demonstrated his unselfish devotion to duty and high order of courage when he persisted in the treatment of casualties on a newly-established bridgehead across the Blies River, then subjected to extremely heavy enemy fire of all types, until he was killed by the hostile fire. His intrepid actions were an inspiration to his comrades and are in accord with the best traditions of the Medical Department of the Army. Entered military service from New Hampshire.
