Claude Orville Kimball, son of Millard and Iva Fay (Holeman) Kimball, was born June 2, 1919 in Goshen, Oregon. He married Derwinna Anna Brown June 2, 1939 and the couple had a daughter, Darlene. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940. At that time he was living in Trent, Oregon. He was inducted into the Army March 29, 1944 at Fort Lewis, Washington, and trained at Camp Robinson, Arkansas. He joined Company G, 320th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 83rd Replacement Battalion, 7th Replacement Depot on December 24, 1944, while the unit was at Metz, France. During the Battle of the Bulge he suffered frostbite, and on January 14, 1945 when the unit was near Marvie, Belgium, he was lost to the 65th Field Hospital. He returned to duty March 6, 1945. Pvt Claude O Kimball was killed in action March 28, 1945 in the vicinity of Dinslaken, Germany. He is buried at Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands.
