Thomas Sparnell Kinard was born March 20, 1923 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He registered for the draft June 30, 1942. At the time he was living in Kansas City, Missouri. He joined Company A, 320th Infantry Regiment as a Squad Leader from the 48th Replacement Battalion August 11, 1944 when the unit was in the vicinity of Mortain, France. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge August 20, 1944 and promoted to Staff Sergeant November 4, 1944. S/Sgt Thomas S Kinard was killed in action December 10, 1944 in the vicinity of Sarreguemines, France. He is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint Avold, France.
