W L King, son of W L and Vasty (Ayers) King, was born November 27, 1924 in Cass County, Texas. He registered for the draft December 28, 1942 when he was an 18 year old student living in Linden, Texas. He was inducted into the Army November 8, 1943 at Tyler, Texas and joined Company K, 320th Infantry Regiment from the 48th Replacement Battalion August 19, 1944 when the unit was at Toury, France. He was promoted to Private First Class September 1, 1944. He was injured in action February 28, 1945 in the vicinity of Heinsberg, Germany, lost to the 105th Evacuation Hospital, and returned to duty March 5, 1945. Pfc W L King was killed in action April 16, 1945 in the vicinity of Breitenhagen, Germany. He is buried at Caves Springs Cemetery, Linden, Texas.
