 320th Infantry Regiment - Company I

Thomas Melvin Knox, son of James Cicero and Theresa (Rhodes) Knox, was born November 12, 1920 in Chilton County, Alabama. He registered for the draft February 14, 1942 and was inducted into the Army September 4, 1942 at Fort McClellan, Alabama. He arrived in the ETO in May 1944 and served as an Automatic Rifleman in Company I, 320th Infantry Regiment. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge August 12, 1944. Pfc Thomas M Knox was killed in action by shell blast fragments September 30, 1944 in the vicinity of the Foret De Gremecey, France. He is buried at Mountain Springs Cemetery, Clinton County, Alabama.
