Robert Joseph Kuehn, son of Joseph John and Elizabeth (Keelan) Kuehn, was born December 29, 1918 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. He married Gertrude Virginia Koehn June 3, 1944. After graduating from St Norbert's College in De Pere, Wisconsin, he attended Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia and was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant December 13, 1943. He served at Army bases in Texas and Fort Meade, Maryland before departing for the ETO in August 1944. He joined Company K, 320th Infantry Regiment September 30, 1944 when the unit was fighting near Gremecey, France and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge December 1, 1944. 2nd Lt Robert J Kuehn was killed in action by enemy tank fire December 17, 1944 in the vicinity of Reinheim, Germany. He is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint Avold, France.
