George Earl Kuhns, son of Ira Earl and Myrtle Edna (Achhammer) Kuhns, was born October 28, 1917 in Ligonier Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940 and was inducted into the Army April 23, 1942 at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He departed for the ETO in December 1943 and served in England until joining Company C, 320th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 36th Ground Forces Reinforcement Center February 7, 1945 when the unit was in the vicinity of Dremmen, Germany. He was promoted to Private First Class March 1, 1945. Pfc George E Kuhns was killed in action March 4, 1945 in the vicinity of Oermeten, Germany. He is buried at Saint James Cemetery, Youngstown, Pennsylvania.
