 320th Infantry Regiment - Headquarters Company 1st Battalion

Leonard Henry Lemler, son of Fred Herman and Margaretha (Hasse) Lemler, was born September 13, 1917 in Cole Camp, Missouri. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940 and was inducted into the Army February 6, 1942. He served as an Ammunition Handler in Headquarters Company 1st Battalion, 320th Infantry Regiment and was awarded the Expert Infantryman Badge August 12, 1944 and the Combat Infantryman Badge August 20, 1944. Pfc Leonard H Lemler was killed in action by artillery shell fragments near the Saar River in the vicinity of Siltzheim, France. He is buried at Higginsville City Cemetery, Higginsville, Missouri.
