Harry Lofgren registered for the draft October 16, 1940 when he was 25 years old and living in Fargo, North Dakota. Prior to entering service he worked at Armour Packing Company in West Fargo. He was inducted into the Army February 19, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. He served as an Automatic Rifleman (BAR) in Company C, 320th Infantry Regiment and landed at Omaha Beach, Normandy France July 6, 1944. He was wounded in action in the vicinity of St Lo, France July 11 and returned to duty that same day. He was wounded again July 17 and returned to duty July 20, 1944. Sometime after November 1944 (date unknown) he was reassigned to Company K, 354th Infantry Regiment, 89th Infantry Division and returned to the U.S. December 24, 1945. He was discharged from the Army on December 30, 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. Pfc Harry Lofgren was awarded a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Expert Infantryman Badge, EAME Service Medal, and the American Theater Service Medal for his service in the Army. He passed away September 9, 1981 and is buried at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, North Dakota.
