 320th Infantry Regiment - Company L

Gordon Loveday, son of Sam and Ruby Loveday, was born March 5, 1926 in Madison County, Alabama. He registered for the draft March 6, 1944. At the time he was living in Huntsville, Alabama and working at the Huntsville Arsenal. He was inducted into the Army August 30, 1944 at Fort McClellan, Alabama and joined Company L, 320th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 86th Replacement Battalion February 3, 1945 when the unit was at Noorbeek, Holland. He was promoted to Private First Class March 1, 1945. Pfc Gordon Loveday was killed in action March 28, 1945 in the vicinity of Dinslaken, Germany. He is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery, Huntsville, Alabama.
