Claude Lofton Martin, son of Ferrell Lofton and Mary Dominica (Martini) Martin, was born in 1922 in Alabama. He was inducted into the Army January 18, 1943 at Fort McPherson, Georgia. At the time he was living in Georgia. He served as an Antitank Gun Crewman in Cannon Company, 320th Infantry Regiment. Pvt Claude L Martin was wounded in action August 2, 1944 in the vicinity of Torigni-sur-Vire, southeast of St Lo, France and died of his wounds that same day. He is buried at Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
