Carlos Venardino Martinez, son of Victoriano and Luciana Martinez, was born May 20 1921 in Mosquero, New Mexico. He registered for the draft February 16, 1942. At the time he was employed by the Works Progress Administration in Mosquero. He was inducted into the Army April 19, 1944 at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas and joined Company E, 320th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 48th Replacement Battalion January 23, 1945 while the unit was in the vicinity of Metz, France. He was promoted to Private First Class March 13, 1945. Pfc Carlos V Martinez was killed in action April 11, 1945 in the vicinity of Dusseldorf, Germany. He is buried at Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands.
