Company L -  320th Infantry Regiment

Jake Floyd McLean, son of David and Jakie (Floyd) McLean, was born June 28, 1923 at Raleigh, North Carolina. He registered for the draft June 30, 1942 while working at Pender Grocery. He joined Company L, 320th Infantry Regiment sometime before the unit departed for the ETO and landed at Omaha Beach July 6, 1944. He was promoted to Sergeant July 18, 1944 during the battle at St Lo, France. Sgt Jake F McLean was killed in action August 1, 1944 in the vicinity of Guilberville, France. He is buried at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh, North Carolina.
