Emil Frank Mlinarcik registered for the draft July 27, 1943 and was inducted into the Army sometime during December 1943 or January 1944. He joined Company G, 320th Infantry Regiment from the 48th Replacement Battalion January 16, 1945 during the Battle of the Bulge when the unit was in the vicinity of Bizory, Belgium, a small village about 2 1/2 miles northeast of Bastogne. He was promoted to Private First Class on February 1, 1945. Mid-May brought him to the Koblenz area of Germany for occupation duty. He returned to the U.S. aboard the Queen Mary, sailing for the U.S. from Southampton, England on September 5 and arriving in New York Harbor five days later on Monday, September 10, 1945. During his service in the 320th Infantry Regiment, Pfc Emil F Mlinarcik fought in the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central European Campaigns. He passed away May 24, 1988 and is buried at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Justice, Illinois.
