Jerald Andrew Moore, son of Albert and Nellie (Lee) Moore, was born January 11, 1924 in Lovett, Indiana. He married Irma Jean Bonsett June 23, 1944 and the couple had a daughter, Gloria Kay. He registered for the draft June 30, 1942 when he was 18 years old and living in Scottsburg, Indiana. He was inducted into the Army January 11, 1944 at Louisville, Kentucky and joined Company A, 320th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 48th Replacement Battalion August 11, 1944 when the unit was in the vicinity of Mortain, France. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge August 20, 1944 and promoted to Private First Class November 1, 1944. Pfc Jerald A Moore was seriously wounded by shell fragments December 8 in the vicinity of Sarreinsming, France and transferred to the 60th Field Hospital. He died of his wounds December 25, 1944 and is buried at Cana Cemetery, Paris Crossing, Indiana.
