Charles R Noel, son of Jean Adelard and Philomene (Gagne) Noel, was born May 23, 1916 in Mattawa, Canada. His family moved to the State of New York in 1917 when he was 3 years old. He married Marion Gladys Coorad March 12, 1938 and the couple had 2 daughters, Jeanne and Cheryl. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940 and was inducted into the Army April 8, 1944 at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He joined Company G, 320th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 38th Replacement Battalion November 13, 1944 when the unit was in the vicinity of Vaxy, France and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge December 1, 1944. Pvt Charles R Noel was seriously wounded by artillery shell fragments in the vicinity of Niedergailbach, Germany and died of his wounds that same day, December 15, 1944. He is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint Avold, France.
