Norris Walter Olson, son of David Nathaniel and Gunhild Isadore (Erickson) Olson, was born March 27, 1912 in Sioux City, Iowa. He was a lifelong resident of Sioux City and graduated from Central High School. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940. At the time he was working at his family's business, the Olson Printing Company. He was inducted into the Army March 11, 1942 and was a Platoon Sergeant in Company L, 320th Infantry Regiment. T/Sgt Norris W Olson was reported missing July 13, 1944 and was confirmed killed in action July 20, 1944 in the vicinity of St Lo, France. He is buried at Graceland Park Cemetery, Sioux City, Iowa.
