Ervin Raymond Orvis, son of Charles Nelson and Rosa Evelyn (Rector) Orvis was born August 25, 1915 in Keliher, Minnesota. He married Carrie Ellen Rude in 1941 and the couple had a son, Ervin Raymond Orvis, Jr. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940, served as a Messenger in Company C, 320th Infantry Regiment, and landed at Omaha Beach in Normandy, France July 6, 1944. Pfc Ervin R Orvis was originally reported missing July 18 and later confirmed killed in action July 24, 1944 in the vicinity of St Lo, France. He is buried at Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
